Asian street food in La Condesa

This statement might seem pretentious, but the taste of their dishes is totally realistic compared to the streets of one of the eastern countries, where their inspiration comes from.

The Suuwai restaurant (S-õ-a-ì) located at Calle de Alfonso Reyes No. 238 will take you out of Mexico for a while and take you straight to the streets of Thailand, Japan or China. Starting with the place, decoration and atmosphere. It has two floors, the ground floor also has an outdoor area, terrace type, where you really want to spend the afternoon with cocktails with Asian touches such as a ginger mezcalita or a carajillo matcha (Sake and 43 liquor. TOP RECOMMENDATION). You will see how they prepare your food and drinks thanks to the fact that it has an open kitchen on this floor, as well as a very nice bar, next to the street where you can sit on one of the benches and cool off with one of their mocktails, non-alcoholic drinks in two combinations: Waii: Pineapple, ginger and citrus. Nak: Blueberry, lychee and red fruits. We tried both and they are highly recommended.

At the end you will find the stairs to access the next floor, one with neon-style decorations, alluding to the signs popularly used, especially in Japan. Another terrace, more intimate and surrounded by vegetation, invites you to a dinner with a date.

The surprising flavors of their dishes are memorable. The portions are generous, and if you want a little guide on what to order, here we leave it:

Entree: Siu May, steamed dumplings filled with a mixture of pork, mushrooms and shrimp.

Main: Pork belly Bun, it is a type of steamed rice tortilla with glazed pork belly, with roasted peanuts, spring onion and sweet chili sauce. Or a Pad Thai.

Dessert: Matcha ice cream, served with sweet miso, coconut foam with sweet peanuts.
